Collin Kroen, MD
Associate Program Director
I joined Cleveland Clinic in 2000 as a Hospitalist. I was very pleased with the depth and breadth of medicine that is practiced here. The opportunities for learning and research are endless. But I also found that the experts that shape how various fields of medicine and surgery are practiced are also teaching residents how to apply this knowledge through praxis. They are definitely not your typical ivory tower academicians!
The Section of Hospital Medicine is very involved with educating both students and residents. There is a dedication to mentorship and academic pursuits including poster presentations at national meetings as well as authorship of scholarly works. Hospitalists have a strong commitment to providing excellent patient care and to teaching how this can be maximized. There is no better place to learn and model this behavior than at the bedside.
As director of the Hospital Medicine Track I hope to train the next generation of Hospitalists to feel comfortable not only providing this excellent care, but also improving how hospitals improve the care they provide. I have a life-long passion to learn and educate and Cleveland Clinic provides the perfect milieu for indulging both of these passions. My other interests include history (especially medical history), and playing the guitar.
