Stephen MinorOne of the biggest compliments to any institution is to recruit someone who, after having a significant amount of exposure to the program as a medical student, elects to continue there as a resident. As a student of The Ohio State University, I had the opportunity to perform all of my third and fourth year clerkships at the Cleveland Clinic. I experienced first hand the exceptional teaching, learning resources and research opportunities that are available. Based on that experience, I wanted a residency program that would provide me with both thorough and extensive training in the basics of internal medicine and also be very strong in all the subspecialty fields it encompasses. The Cleveland Clinic Foundation easily accomplished both of these aspects while still maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork. The program and hospital is always expanding to continually serve a broader diversity of patient populations and to maintain cutting edge technologic advances and interventions. Currently, as a resident, I enjoy greater exposure to both inpatient and outpatient settings including a weekly continuity clinic at a suburban satellite in Independence, Ohio.
I would strongly urge you to consider The Cleveland Clinic Foundation if you are interested in an academic, tertiary care hospital dedicated to resident teaching and the preparation of excellent general internists as well as superb subspecialists.
