Benefits

HOUSING
The Graduate Medical Education Office and the Pediatric Education Office can provide general information and assistance in securing housing to meet individual needs.

ON CALL MEALS
Dinner and Breakfast paid for by The Cleveland Clinic Educational Foundation when on night call.� Lunches paid for on weekend on-call.

MEDICAL INSURANCE
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation will provide The Cleveland Clinic Core Health Insurance Plan at no cost to you, for you and your eligible dependents.� Other plans may also be available.

DISABILITY INSURANCE
(LONG TERM)� Paid for by The Cleveland Clinic Foundation for Residents/Fellows in Clinical Training.� Guaranteed issue, portability, HIV stance.

MATERNITY
100% coverage is provided through your health plan, within the plan�s guidelines.

PHARMACEUTICALS
Prescription drug benefits are determined by the health plan chosen.� All health plans have a deductible, copay or both for prescription medication.

DENTAL CARE PLAN
Choice of two (2) plans.� Provided at no cost to all Residents and Fellows after completing 12 months of training at CCF. Coverage may be purchased during the first year.

VISION PLAN
You may purchase a vision plan for additional vision benefits.� (Note:� routine eye exams are covered through your health plan.

LIFE INSURANCE
$25,000 term group policy.

LOANS
A $1,200 interest free loan is available to all house staff who receive a salary from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

MALPRACTICE INSURANCE
Paid by The Cleveland Clinic Educational Foundation, includes tail coverage.� Limited to activities within the training program.

LIBRARY
The 30,000 square foot library facility offers the following services: Reference assistance, Medline searches, electronic resources (may also be available from outside the library) and a� Learning Resource Center (Audiovisual materials, computers, Interlibrary Loans ands self service photocopying.)

UNIFORMS
All uniforms are provided by the Clinic and are laundered free of charge.

TIME AWAY
Vacation: 3 weeks (15 paid working days)
Maternity:� 6 weeks-paid leave for natural childbirth or adoption; 7 weeks for cesarean section.� Additional time off unpaid up to a maximum of 12 weeks under� FMLA.
Paternity: 2 weeks paid leave (10 working days). Additional time off unpaid up to a maximum of 12 weeks under FMLA.�
The Family Leave Act (FMLA) entitles all employees up to 12 weeks off, unpaid, after one year of employment.� See Graduate Physicians Manual for further information.

Due to your specialty Board�s requirements, you may need to make up part or all of your leave time prior to program completion.

RECREATION
Jewish Community Center (Beachwood): �Memberships are provided for the House Staff.� Athletic membership - handball, squash, etc.� Contact the GME Department for details.

TRAVEL PRIVILEGES & OTHER EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Residents/Fellows at PGY-3 and above may receive one 3-day meeting with a maximum reimbursement of $1,000 per academic year.�

Residents/ Fellows, at PGY-3 or above, in their final year of training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (that have completed more than one year) are eligible for one 5-day meeting with a maximum reimbursement of $1,200.�

PGY-1 and PGY-2 House Staff may attend local meetings (one day maximum) with approval of Program Director.�

Our graduating seniors have the opportunity to attend our week long Pediatric Board Review free of charge. For more information about the 2004 Pediatric Board Review, please click here.

If you are presenting at a national meeting, The Division of Pediatrics will cover your expenses.

Special Courses:� Paid for by the Cleveland Clinic Educational Foundation when deemed necessary, requested by Program Director and approved by Graduate Medical Education Council.

Examinations:� Mock boards, etc. paid by Cleveland Clinic.
