Pediatric Residency Program

Evaluations Process

At the end of each module, each resident is evaluated by the staff physician in charge of the service. This evaluation follows guidelines set by The American Board of Pediatrics and includes cognitive, technical and interactional skills. Each resident meets at least twice yearly with the program director or an advisor to review all evaluations and to discuss other issues, including future professional goals. The faculty is committed to the development of each resident and this process is used to enhance strengths and foster growth.

Each resident takes the annual American Board of Pediatrics In-Training Examination. This exam is a measure of cognitive ability and is available to all Pediatric training programs. Each examination is scored individually and compared to the performance of all trainees in the same educational level. The results of this exam are discussed with the program director to ascertain ways to optimally enhance the knowledge base of each resident.
