With the opening of two
recently-constructed buildings, Cleveland Clinic has created new environments that are conducive to its long-standing tradition
of striving for clinical excellence and innovation. The Sydell & Arnold Miller Family Pavilion and the Glickman Tower now house
the Heart & Vascular Institute and the Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute - two of the 27 institutes that make up Cleveland Clinic's
group practice clinical model. Based on input from patients, nurses, community members, physicians and other experts, the
structures were designed to offer patients the most advanced heart, vascular, urological and kidney disease care in the world.
The buildings also serve as the new front door to Cleveland Clinic, welcoming patients and visitors who enter the medical
campus along a beautiful, tree-lined boulevard that features six reflecting pools. With its massive sweep of floor-to-ceiling
windows, the Sydell & Arnold Miller Family Pavilion is a stunning introduction to Cleveland Clinic, while 12-story Glickman
Tower, which is now the tallest building on the campus, offers a sense of majesty. In addition, a rooftop helipad atop of
Glickman Tower ensures that critically ill and injured patients receive immediate care. Measuring nearly one million square
feet, the Miller Family Pavilion is the largest building in the world dedicated to heart and vascular care.
Although the buildings are remarkable on the exterior, what is truly impressive is the progressive patient care they offer
inside. The Miller Pavilion is equipped with the latest equipment and technology including the first robotic interventional
system in the country and two dedicated robotic surgery suites. The building also features four specialized intensive care
units, with more than 110 beds combined. Operating rooms are larger than average to accommodate the large surgical teams
required for complex cases. The Glickman Tower has a state-of-the-art dialysis center, which has nearly doubled and offers
patients scenic views of the outdoors. The Glickman Tower has expanded the number of exam rooms to 80, as well as outpatient
procedure rooms to 16.
By creating these two revolutionary structures, Cleveland Clinic is staying true to its guiding principal of placing
"Patients First. Always". This commitment to patient care and comfort has guided the creation of the new pavilion and tower
and will facilitate continued advancements in medicine.
Cleveland Clinic is ranked #1 in the nation for heart care- a position
it has achieved every year since 1995. Furthermore, its urology program was ranked #2 for the ninth consecutive year. The
Cleveland Clinic's kidney disease program ranks fourth in the nation.
