Course objectives:

During the course each participant receives one-on-one instructions on the following topics:

  • How to prepare for your laboratory accreditation by the College of American Pathologist (CAP) Reproductive Laboratory Inspection Program or your tissue banks by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) inspection (Client Depositor only).
  • What to do: Pre-inspection, during inspection and post inspection
  • Inspection Techniques
  • Quality Management (pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic processes)
  • Critical indicators for all three processes
  • Laboratory General Checklist
  • Reproductive Laboratory Checklist (Embryology and Andrology)
  • Team Leader assessment
  • FDA Compliance

Educational teaching methods:

  • Lectures
  • Quality Assurance in Reproductive labs
  • Licensing & Accreditation
  • Proficiency Testing for Reproductive Labs
  • CAP Checklists: General and Reproductive checklists
  • Practical sessions (lab visit and demonstrations)
  • Interactive discussions

Evaluation of trainee:

  • Knowledge: Multiple choice questions on lab techniques linked to each course module
  • Practical skills: Tested on specific lab techniques taught during the training
  • Verbal + communication skills: PPT talk on a topic linked to a course module

Each participant will receive:

  • Course syllabus with reading material and lab protocols
  • Free library access
  • Lunch tickets
  • Certificate of training (issued upon successful evaluation by the instructor)

Course duration:

Participants receive 2 days of instructions in the following areas:

  • Lectures/ interactive discussions - 10 hours
  • Laboratory practical sessions - 6 hours
