Course objectives:

During the course each participant receives one-on-one training to develop knowledge and skills in:

• Sperm DNA fragmentation test by FACS (TUNEL assay)
• MACS^* technique for selection of non-apoptotic spermatozoa
• Measurement of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in semen samples
• Measurement of total antioxidant status (TAC) in seminal plasma
• Apoptotic marker in ejaculated spermatozoa by fluorescence microscopy (Annexin V binding)

FACS: Fluorescence activated cell sorting
^*Magnetic-activated cell sorting

Educational teaching methods:

• Live lectures and multimedia presentations.

Course duration:

Participants receive 32 hours of instructions in the following areas:
