Measurement of ROS

Course objectives:

During the course each participant receives one-on-one training to develop knowledge and skills in:

  • MACS technique for selection of non-apoptotic spermatozoa
  • Oxidative stress status (ROS & TAC levels)
  • Apoptotic marker in ejaculated spermatozoa by fluorescence microscopy
    (Annexin V binding)
  • Sperm DNA fragmentation by FACS
    (TUNEL assay)
  • Hamster egg human sperm decondensation test (HICSI)*
  • Zona free hamster egg sperm penetration assay*

ROS & TAC: Reactive oxygen species and Total antioxidant status
FACS: Fluorescence activated cell sorting
Magnetic-activated cell sorting
*Demonstration only

Educational teaching methods:

  • Live lectures and multimedia presentations.
  • Laboratory training sessions.
  • Interactive discussions.

Each participant will receive:

Course duration:

Participants receive 32 hours of instructions in the following areas:

  • Lectures, discussions - 8 hours.
  • Laboratory training sessions - 24 hours.
