Course objectives:

During the course each participant receives one-on-one training to develop knowledge and skills in: routine semen analysis including proper specimen collection, volume measurement, pH, manual sperm count, and motility using sperm counting chambers (MicroCell and Makler Chambers), preparation of smear for morphology.

• Semen sample collection and delivery
• Routine semen analysis
• Computer assisted semen analysis (CASA)
• Review quality control method for semen analysis
• Proficiency survey for semen analysis

Course duration:

Participants receive 1 day of instruction in the following areas:

• Demonstration of procedures
• Laboratory training sessions - 1 day

Course objectives:

During the course each participant receives one-on-one training to develop knowledge and skills in: sperm morphology by both Tygerberg's Strict Criteria and World Health Organization criteria for sperm morphology; preparation of slides and staining techniques.

• Name and perform sperm morphology assessments by WHO 3^rd and Tygerberg's Strict (WHO 4^th) criteria
• Distinguish the differences between the two morphology classification systems
• Observe semen smear preparation and practice staining techniques
• Review quality control measures

Course duration:

Participants receive 2 days of instruction in the following areas:

• Demonstration of procedures
• Laboratory training sessions - 2 days

Educational teaching methods:

• Laboratory training sessions.
• Interactive discussions.

Each participant will receive:

• Course manual.
• Certificate of training
• Free library access.
