ORTHOPEDIC PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical Therapists at the Cleveland Clinic treat a variety of orthopedic conditions. Such conditions may result from overuse injuries, trauma, sports related injuries and accidents. Common diagnoses include rotator cuff injuries, neck and back problems, ankle sprains, knee conditions and others.
A physical therapy evaluation is the first step in the rehabilitation process. Once the evaluation is complete, the therapist will work with the patient to develop a treatment program to meet the patient’s needs. Physical therapy is aimed at the reduction of pain, if present, increasing joint motion and increasing strength. The rehabilitation process also includes conditioning exercises so that the patient may return to his or her activity level. Intervention may include use of manual techniques as needed to facilitate healing.
