Thoracic Imaging

The Section of Thoracic Imaging specializes in the diagnosis of pulmonary, mediastinal, pleural, and chest wall diseases. Major imaging modalities offered by the section include digital radiography, CT, and MRI. Percutaneous biopsies of thoracic lesions and drainage procedures of thoracic collections are performed by members of the section.

The Division of Radiology is committed to subspecialty care with six full-time chest radiologists committed to non-cardiac thoracic imaging. The section works closely with the Departments of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine as well as numerous other sub-specialty divisions in the Clinic.

Particular areas of interest include all aspects of imaging of lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, occupational lung disease, and airway disease using the newest technologies. Ongoing research programs are in the fields of computer aided detection and quantification of localized and diffused lung disease.
