Summer Internship Program

Introduction
Cleveland Clinic Department of Pharmacy serves as an educational
site for doctor of pharmacy students.
Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of rotations and educational
conferences designed to advance knowledge base and skill level in such areas as
cost-effective drug selection, monitoring of therapy and response, pharmacokinetic
principles, avoidance and minimization of adverse events, drug information, education,
and verbal and written communication.
Purpose
The purpose of the summer internship program is to provide
knowledge and practical experience necessary for functioning competently and effectively
upon licensure.
Program Details
The program is a 12-week rotational experience including
rotations such as central pharmacy, IV room, compounding, drug information, pediatric
satellite, chemotherapy satellite, and clinical drug monitoring with an operational
focus for first year interns. Requirements
of the program include a summer project, two presentations, attendance at pharmacy
intern meetings and clinical pharmacy conferences.
