The section of pediatric urology offers evaluation
and management of the full range of medical and surgical diseases
of the urinary tract and genitalia in children. This includes
genital anomalies such as hypospadias and undescended testicle,
kidney problems ranging from ureteropelvic junction obstruction
to Wilms tumor, neurogenic bladder, vesicoureteral reflux,
urinary incontinence, and rarer entities such as bladder exstrophy
and posterior urethral valves. The section consists of 2 pediatric
urologists and a nurse clinician. The section has access to
the latest techniques and technology including laparoscopy
and videourodynamics. Dr. Jonathan Ross is the head of pediatric
urology. He trained at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation with
fellowship training in pediatric urology at the Childrens
Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Robert Kay is the senior member
of the section and Chief of Staff of the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation. He trained at the University of Oregon with fellowship
training in pediatric urology at the Alder Hey Children's
Hospital in Liverpool England. Medical students rotating on
the service will have one-on-one instruction from the pediatric
urologists and will work closely with the urology resident
rotating on the service. Approximately half the time will
be spent seeing patients with the team in the clinic, and
half the time scrubbed in the operating room. The section
has a broad range of clinical material and is committed to
education of residents and medical students.
