About the Departments and Sections at The Children's Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic

Infectious Disease

Children's Hospital specialists treat children and adolescents with infectious diseases, including those related to transplantation, underlying health problems or acquired or congenital immune problems, such as AIDS. Physicians treat recurrent ear and sinus infections; postoperative infections; pneumonia; fever of unknown origin; meningitis; and bone, joint and heart failure.

An outpatient program is available for intravenous antibiotic and gamma globulin therapies. Patients with AIDS or other illnesses related to a compromised immune system are seen in the weekly, interdisciplinary Recurrent Infection Clinic.

Recurrent Infection Clinic
A multidisciplinary clinic for pediatric patients with acquired or congenital immune problems, including rheumatic fever, cystic fibrosis, recurrent infections and acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Patients are evaluated and treated on an ongoing basis, as needed, by specialists in infectious disease, immunology and rheumatology.
