Children's Hospital specialists treat
children and adolescents with infectious diseases, including
those related to transplantation, underlying health problems
or acquired or congenital immune problems, such as AIDS. Physicians
treat recurrent ear and sinus infections; postoperative infections;
pneumonia; fever of unknown origin; meningitis; and bone,
joint and heart failure.
An outpatient program is available for intravenous
antibiotic and gamma globulin therapies. Patients with AIDS
or other illnesses related to a compromised immune system
are seen in the weekly, interdisciplinary Recurrent Infection
Clinic.
A multidisciplinary clinic for pediatric patients with acquired
or congenital immune problems, including rheumatic fever,
cystic fibrosis, recurrent infections and acquired immune
deficiency syndrome. Patients are evaluated and treated on
an ongoing basis, as needed, by specialists in infectious
disease, immunology and rheumatology.
