Gastroenterology

Physicians in the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition care for children and adolescents with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary system, including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and disorders of the esophagus, stomach, large and small bowel, liver and pancreas. Comprehensive evaluation of growth and nutritional status also is provided.

Services include gastrointestinal endoscopy (esophagogastro-duodenoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopan-creatography), polyp and foreign body removal, and management of children following caustic ingestion. Sophisticated nutritional assessment is available, including body composition analysis, stable isotope testing and breath hydrogen analysis. For treatment of constipation and incontinence, the section offers rectal manometry, electromyography and biofeedback training. We are one of the few centers offering gastroduodenal and colonic motility in children.
