About the Departments and Sections at The Children's Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic

Allergies

The Section of Pediatric Allergy provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient testing, diagnosis and treatment of common and unusual allergic and immunologic disorders in children through age 21.

Typical problems treated include: asthma; allergic rhinitis; atopic dermatitis; urticaria; anaphylaxis; food, medication and bee-sting allergies; and inherited immune deficiencies and recurrent infections.

Complete outpatient diagnostic testing services are offered, including allergy skin testing and immunologic evaluation, pulmonary function testing, rhinoscopy, tympanometry and ingestion challenge testing. Treatments available for specific allergic or immunologic problems include desensitization and intravenous gamma globulin.

Members of the section are actively involved in allergy research, and specific testing is part of various research protocols. Patients may be seen in regularly scheduled allergy clinics or on an emergency basis. Pediatric allergy patients can be seen at the main campus or at our family health center locations.
