About the Departments and Sections at The Children's Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic

Adolescent Medicine

Adolescent medicine specialists serve individuals between the ages of 12 and 22 who require care related to puberty, development and behavior. From acne and hirsutism to sexually transmitted diseases and menstrual disorders, our adolescent medicine physicians are a resource for the general practitioner.

As a supplement to community physician primary care, our specialists also can perform routine gynecologic care. Other specialized services include body image problems, and evaluation and management of eating disorders.

Our services also extend to children between the ages of 8 and 11 who are prepubertal or peripubertal and may have specific age-related issues.
This section uses a multidisciplinary approach, working with a team of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychopharmacologists and dietitians as necessary.
