The national nursing shortage is a reality for healthcare organizations in Northeast Ohio.  The facts are astounding:

  • Nationwide, there are currently approximately 125,000 vacant nursing positions; by the year 2020, the shortage will increase to approximately 800,000; in Ohio, that equates to a shortage of 32,000 registered nurses.
  • The average age of nurses is 45 years, signaling retirement of a large cohort in the very near future, right when the Baby Boomer generation needs nurses to care for them; only 12% of Registered Nurses are under the age of 30.

The Nursing Institute at the Cleveland Clinic is committed to playing a significant role in alleviating the nursing shortage.  It is our belief that engaging students from early elementary school through high school to promote nursing as a professional career is essential.  To support that, the Nursing Institute is dedicated to assisting those who wish to pursue nursing as a career.

The First Annual Nursing Institute Golf Outing has been created to raise money to fund scholarships for those interested in pursuing a career in nursing.  Without scholarships and assistance, many who have a dream of a nursing career would not be able to meet their goal.

This is where we need YOUR help!  Your participation in this golf outing will demonstrate your commitment in assisting us with alleviating the nursing shortage.

Please consider participating through the sponsorships listed here.  The Nursing Institute at the Cleveland Clinic would be honored to have you and/or your company participate in being a part of this inaugural event.
