The MAC meets at least quarterly, has overall responsibility for the training program and is specifically responsible for recruiting and selecting Scholars; serving as role models, advisors and mentors for Scholars; matching Scholars to mentors based on the recommendations of the Mentorship Committee; approving the final version of the core curriculum and reviewing it at least annually; and for reviewing and approving the training, research and career plans of the Scholars. The MAC will also review reports from the Program Evaluator and develop an annual progress report. The day-to-day operation of the program, as well as planning and monitoring is handled by the Administrative Core. Dr. Richard Rudick, Program Director, is responsible for the overall program. He chairs the MAC, sits on the Steering Committee and is actively involved in several aspects of the program. Dr. Rudick is the Vice Chairman, Research and Development, Neurological Institute and Director of the Mellen Center for MS Treatment and Research at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. In addition to Dr. Rudick, the program has two Co-Directors, Dr. Randy Cebul and Dr. Alfred Connors. Dr. Cebul is responsible for the program curriculum. He oversees development of all new courses, integrating these courses with the existing CRSP accredited courses; develops interfaces between the core curriculum and other degree granting programs; and chairs the Curriculum sub-committee. Dr. Cebul is also CWRU Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Director of the Center for Health Care Research and Policy at MetroHealth Medical Center. Dr. Alfred Connors is responsible for Scholar recruitment and selection; coordinating and overseeing the Mentors; and directing the Scholar Shared Resource Facility. Additionally, he chairs the Mentorship sub-committee. He is the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at MetroHealth Medical Center. Dr. Connors’ interests are in health services research, evaluation and measurement of patient outcomes, determining effectiveness of therapy, devices and processes of care, medical decision making management of the seriously ill, and cost-effectiveness analysis. |
