While everyone's care is tailored just for them, here is a general look at what you can expect from your initial contact through your visit to Cleveland Clinic.
STEP 1:
Call our ILD hotline to make an appointment. You can reach our ILD Coordinator at 866.388.5955.
STEP 2:
Our ILD coordinator will walk you through an on-the-phone assessment of your needs, goals and any medical records that may need to be transferred prior to your visit.
STEP 3:
The ILD coordinator will work with our scheduling office and then contact you with the best available date and time for your schedule. Our medical concierge also can help out-of-state patients arrange transportation, accommodations and other details.
STEP 4:
Your visit could be as brief as a few days or up to five days, depending on your needs. Here is a look at a typical visit. Please keep in mind that not all appointments may be necessary for your specific evaluation.
MONDAY:
Evaluations and specialist visits may include:
- ILD physician consultation
- Breathing tests
- Rheumatologist consultation
- Chest imaging
- Thoracic surgery consultation
- Preop clinic
- Cardiac stress test
TUESDAY:
Surgical lung biopsy or bronchoscopy if needed.
WEDNESDAY:
Other appointments and genetics evaluation (if desired).
THURSDAY MORNING:
ILD conference: You may choose to attend a treatment discussion of your case with our multidisciplinary team of pulmonologists, radiologists and pathologists.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON:
Wrap-up your visit with a respiratory physician. Additional meetings may be arranged with research coordinators and the transplant team to discuss participation in clinical trials as well as the options for a lung transplant. If no meetings are requested, patients may return home.

We value your time and will work closely with you to schedule a visit which best suits your needs and travel schedule.
