Randy Cebul, MD
Dr. Cebul is Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Director of the Case-MetroHealth System Center for Health Care Research and Policy, and President of the region-wide quality improvement collaborative called Better HealthGreaterCleveland. Since 2008, Better Health has publicly reported the achievement and improvement of primary care practices throughout northeast Ohio on standards of care for patients with diabetes, hypertension and heart failure. Since 2009, Dr. Cebul has received several awards on behalf of Better Health’s work, including international recognition for a 2011 publication in theNew England Journal of Medicinedocumenting the benefit of electronic health records for improving patient care and outcomes. Better Health also has continuously reported the body mass index of patients in collaborating practices, with results and trends that can best be summarized as “fat and flat”. Dr. Cebul will describe new approaches and opportunities for community stakeholders to use the EHR to change the trend. Randy lives in a 156 year old farmhouse in Hunting Valley with his wife of 39 years, Mary-Scott, and two happy dogs. He and Mary-Scott are proud parents of two sons, Brent and Kerry, both recently located in Brooklyn, New York.
