I was fortunate to rotate at The Cleveland Clinic as a medical student and was impressed by the Internal Medicine Residency program. The competence and quality of the residents was inspiring. I found this program continually striving towards excellence in resident education.
Training here offers many advantages. Since we have a number of satellite outpatient clinics, we act not only as a tertiary referral center, but we also provide primary care to the local community. For instance, my longitudinal care clinic has been in Willoughby Hills, a Cleveland suburb. We deal with the common medical problems in addition to rare and fascinating diseases. We have the opportunity to work with attending staff who are very approachable and, as experts in their field, provide outstanding instruction. The quality of the conferences is exceptional, and there is great emphasis on evidence-based medicine. The residents here are provided with ample resources for research, leading to publications and poster presentations at national conferences.
I am confident that our program builds successful physicians who are competent and well trained. In addition, I am enjoying my experience here and find it gratifying to work with colleagues who are friendly and emphasize working as a team.
