If you’re trying to quit smoking or using tobacco, help is only a phone call away.
You can call the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line at 1-800-QUIT NOW for free counseling
Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am-11:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am—9:00 pm, or Saturday
and Sunday from 10:00 am - 6:30 pm.
A trained quit specialist will explain the services offered by the Quit Line and
then ask you some questions about your own tobacco use and quitting goals. He
or she will help you come up with a personal plan that will prepare you to quit and
help you set a quit date.
Quit Line operators can talk to you about your own quitting challenges, schedule future counseling
calls, give you information about medications and nicotine replacement products, and send you books,
pamphlets and brochures. You may call the Quit Line as many times as you need to, free of charge.
The program usually can be completed in five sessions that prepare you to
quit and give you support as you attempt to quit.
The Quit Line is an especially good solution if you cannot attend classes
in person because of time, cost or childcare issues. Tobacco users who call
the Ohio Quit Line are FIVE TIMES as likely to stay tobacco free as those
who try to quit on their own.
Even if you’ve smoked cigarettes or chewed tobacco for a long time, it’s
not too late to quit. The health benefits of quitting are significant and begin
within 20 minutes of quitting, no matter how long you’ve used tobacco. So
call 1-800-QUIT NOW and call it quits.
