Take the “Smoke-Free Home Pledge”!
Every day, 12 million children are exposed to secondhand smoke in
their homes. Unfortunately, breathing secondhand smoke can be very
harmful to your children's health. Even if you are a smoker, you can
protect your children by making your home and car smoke-free. Join
the millions of people who are protecting their children from
secondhand smoke by taking the Smoke-Free Home Pledge.
When you take the Smoke-Free Home Pledge, you make the choice
not to smoke in your home or car, and you do not to permit others to
smoke in your house or car. If you must smoke, you pledge that you will
smoke outside. Moving to another room or opening a window when you smoke is
not enough to protect your children.
The Smoke-Free Home Pledge is sponsored by the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA has a toll-free Smoke-Free
Home Pledge Hotline that you can call at 1-800-513-1157. A Smoke-
Free Home Kit will be mailed to you that includes a Smoke-Free
Home magnet, a Smoke-Free Home Certificate, and tips on keeping your
home smoke-free. Or, you can visit the EPA’s web site at
www.epa.gov/smokefree.
