Healthy Partnerships

One way to fight obesity and prevent disease is through partnerships that encourage healthy behaviors, Cleveland Clinic CEO and President Delos Cosgrove, M.D., said.

At the event, Dr. Cosgrove and Richard H. Carmona, M.D., MPH, FACS, Vice Chairman for Canyon Ranch, a leading health and wellness company, announced a partnership made possible by a generous gift given by an anonymous supporter.

Cleveland Clinic and Canyon Ranch Institute, the not-for-profit arm of Canyon Ranch, will establish a joint program to study integrative medicine. Findings potentially could be integrated into programs to improve the health and well-being of underserved populations.

At the supporter’s request, the funds will be used in two ways:

  • To promote and conduct evidenced-based research on integrative medicine
  • To translate the best science into programs that will improve the health and well-being of underserved populations.

“Each year, Cleveland Clinic provides millions of dollars in free and discounted clinical services to Northeast Ohio residents. This gift will allow us to have an even greater impact on our community,” he added.
