Cleveland Clinic Supporters Raise Millions by Establishing Chairs
The Charles and Charlotte Fowler Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Research has been established to support thoracic and cardiovascular research. A. Michael Lincoff, M.D., Cardiovascular Medicine, is the first chair holder.
The Lula and Xen Zapis Endowed Chair in Breast Cancer Research has been established in recognition of Mrs. Zapis’ breast cancer treatment at Cleveland Clinic. G. Thomas Budd, M.D., Solid Tumor Oncology, and Joseph Crowe, M.D., Director of Breast Services, jointly will hold the chair.
The John and Rosemary Brown Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine, a gift of the John and Rosemary Brown Family Foundation, will support work in cardiology and clinician education. Brian Griffin, M.D., Cardiovascular Medicine, is the first chair holder.
The Shafran Family Charitable Trust Endowed Chair will support work in pelvic floor disorders, focusing on improving patient outcomes. Tracy Hull, M.D., Colorectal Surgery, is the first chair holder.
The Barry Winovich Endowed Chair for ALS Research, a gift of The Bright Side of the Road Foundation, will support ALS research programs at Cleveland Clinic. Erik P. Pioro, M.D., Ph.D., Director, Cleveland Clinic Center for ALS and Related Disorders, is the first chair holder.
The Mal and Lea Bank Chair will support cancer research. Robert Silverman, Ph.D., Cancer Biology, is the first chair holder.
The Mikati Endowed Chair in Liver Disease and Liver Transplantation is the first international chair established by The Mikati Foundation, based in Beirut, Lebanon. Nizar Zein, M.D., Chief of Hepatology and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Cleveland Clinic, is the first chair holder.
