Madar Family Gives $2 Million to Neurological Institute

Cleveland Clinic has received a $2 million gift from William and Amanda Madar to establish an endowed chair within its new Neurological Institute.

The William P. and Amanda C. Madar Endowed Chair and Professorship is the first chair created within the Neurological Institute for the support of patient care, teaching, research and other activities.

Seeking Leadership
A national search is underway to recruit a chairman for the Neurological Institute.

The establishment of the endowed chair will help recruit top-tier applicants for the position and will fuel the long-term development of programs and services within the Neurological Institute.

Madars' Generosity Serves Many Patients
"We are very grateful for the generosity of the Madar family," says Michael Modic, M.D., Interim Chairman of the Neurological Institute.

"The establishment of this endowment will assist in the recruitment of talented individuals and will help us bring investigators and clinicians together under one roof, resulting in improved access and outcomes for patients," he adds.

The Madar family has a long history of committing its time and support to medical advances at Cleveland Clinic. Mr. Madar established endowments for the Mellen Center in addition to the new Neurological Institute. He also served as a former trustee of Cleveland Clinic and is currently co-chairing the leadership board of the Neurological Institute.

Passionate Philanthropists The Madars are passionate about helping those with neurological disorders. According to William P. Madar, Co-Chair of the Neurological Institute, "I have witnessed firsthand the disabling effects neurological disorders can have on an individual."

"I sincerely believe that the establishment of this endowment will allow great strides to be made in the diagnosis and treatment of these debilitating diseases."

Integrated Model of Care
The Neurological Institute offers a disease-specific, patient-focused approach to care.

The multidisciplinary, fully-integrated model of care at the Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute combines all physicians and other healthcare providers in neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, the behavioral sciences and nursing who treat adult and pediatric patients with neurological disorders.
