Carol L. Moss Appointed Chairman, Institutional Relations and Development

At the May 11 Campaign Executive Board meeting, Delos M. Cosgrove, CEO and President, announced that Carol L. Moss has been named Chairman of Institutional Relations and Development for Cleveland Clinic.

Ms. Moss served as Vice Chairman of Institutional Relations and Development at Cleveland Clinic from 2002 until January 2007 when she was appointed acting Chairman. In her new role, Ms. Moss will oversee all of Cleveland Clinic’s philanthropic initiatives and capital campaigns, a key component of the health system’s physical expansion and continued medical advancement.

“Cleveland Clinic is enjoying a period in its history characterized by great physical growth, innovation and patient-centered care,” says Dr. Cosgrove. “Philanthropy and development are the engines making it possible for us to further patient care, research and education. Carol Moss, with her depth of experience and talent, will strongly position Cleveland Clinic for continued growth and development.”

Throughout her tenure at Cleveland Clinic, Ms. Moss has developed and executed a number of successful strategies to increase philanthropy to Cleveland Clinic. These initiatives have included involving more physicians and volunteers in philanthropic efforts, developing a highly focused donor centered program, developing a strong case for support with better communication programs, recruiting talented development professionals from across the country, and leading an effort to plan and execute Cleveland Clinic’s first billion dollar campaign.

Last year, Cleveland Clinic attained a record-breaking $173 million in new gifts and pledges from individuals, corporations and foundations, far surpassing the earlier annual average of $31.5 million. The total cash flow to Cleveland Clinic from charitable commitments also reached a record high last year of $95 million.

Today’s Innovations, Tomorrow’s Healthcare: Campaign for Cleveland Clinic is designed to further Cleveland Clinic’s mission of providing world-class patient care, innovative research and outstanding educational programs. Funds raised will support innovative patient care; basic and clinical research; medical and patient education; and physical expansion. At present, the campaign has achieved nearly $870 million in philanthropic commitments.
