Campaign Executive Board Celebrates First-Year Momentum

Annual meeting marks campaign progress, provides valuable tools.

As nationally renowned philanthropy expert Paul Schervish, Ph.D., spoke on May 11, a paradigm shift in fundraising philosophy rippled through an attentive group of Cleveland Clinic volunteer campaign ambassadors.

Dr. Schervish, of Boston College, offered insights and tactics to Campaign Executive Board members during interactive sessions at the board’s annual meeting at Walden Country Inn & Stables in Aurora, Ohio. Campaign Executive Board members and special guests also gained valuable perspective from lunchtime panelists Mario Marino, Chairman, Venture Philanthropy; Jim Young, M.D., Chairman, Division of Medicine; Victor Fazio, M.D., Chairman, Colorectal Surgery; and Ronn Richard, President, the Cleveland Foundation.

Attendees were welcomed by Distinguished Chair Norma Lerner and received progress updates from Campaign Chairman Robert E. Rich, Jr., and Executive Chair Robert Tomsich. A year into the public phase of Today’s Innovations, Tomorrow’s Healthcare, they reported healthy campaign attainment of $862 million.

Delos M. Cosgrove, M.D., CEO and President, shared Cleveland Clinic news and highlights, including the appointment of Carol L. Moss as Chairman, Institutional Relations and Development.
