The John and Margaret Krupa Foundation Gives $6 Million to Cleveland Clinic in Florida
Cleveland Clinic announced that through the John and Margaret Krupa Charitable Foundation, Margaret Krupa has designated an additional $6 million to Cleveland Clinic in Florida. The gift was announced March 14 at a dinner at the Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla., as part of Today's Innovations, Tomorrow's Healthcare: Campaign for Cleveland Clinic. Sydell Miller, of Palm Beach, is an honorary chair of the campaign and chaired the dinner.
Extending Loyal Support
Longtime friends of Cleveland Clinic, the Krupas previously have given more than
$10 million to Cleveland Clinic for gifts including endowed chairs in geriatric medicine and neurology at the Florida campus. Their giving also enabled the completion of Cleveland Clinic Florida's Neurological, Skeletal and Spine Institute. In appreciation of their generosity, the Institute is named The Margaret and John Krupa Pavilion. Mrs. Krupa lives in Jupiter, FL.
"The Krupas generosity toward Cleveland Clinic is tremendous. The true value of their giving is measured not just in terms of a numerical figure but really by what it enables us to do for patients," said Bernardo Fernandez, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of Cleveland Clinic's operations in Florida. "Giving like this helps support the programs and services Cleveland Clinic is known for, such as top-tier physician education programs, academic research and state-of-the-art equipment. We are so happy to have the Krupas on the Cleveland Clinic team."
About the Krupas
In 1952, John Krupa purchased Safety Sign Company in Strongsville, Ohio. Through the Krupa's vision, Safety Sign Company became a leading manufacturer of safety compliance signs, tags, labels, tapes, markers and other communication products. Before the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed, Safety Sign Company stayed ahead of the curve by manufacturing signage that protected people from machine and road hazards. John Krupa passed away in 2002.
Mrs. Krupa said, "John and I were partners in business and philanthropy. We shared a vision that was large and loving, wanting all the work we did to matter and to help people who may not be able to help themselves. For us, Cleveland Clinic in Florida is the very best in medicine, compassionate care and research."
