Database Application
We are very pleased to have developed a comprehensive database application.
The introduction of this web site in May of 2007 began phase two of this exciting and innovative initiative.
In a broad sense, the application functions as a mechanism to match potential faculty with available
teaching opportunities. This matching process is accomplished through a comparison of selected data
fields entered in a nurses professional profile and data entered by a school administrator in a course profile.
In 2012 the Initiative was refreshed through a series of e-mails to those with profiles in the database. This helped ensure that all profiles
were current and contact information was accurate and up to date.
In the summer and fall of 2008 the application was upgraded to include more robust messaging, basic reporting capabilities
and expanded data collection in order to better identify potential preceptors for student practicums.
Expanding the Initiative
Throughout the spring and summer of 2007 we provided presentations of the Faculty Initiative web-site to nursing administrators, nurse educators, and staff nurses at several northeast Ohio hospitals.
As a result of those presentations we are excited to have expanded the initiative to officially include five other northeast Ohio hospitals.
As a result of that networking we also have nurses from other area hospitals who participate in the Initiative.
This expansion provides participating schools with a more diverse pool of potential faculty.
In the summer and fall of 2012 additional information and links were added to the Nursing Intranet to encourage nurses to participate
in the Initiative as part of their career development.
As of spring 2013, there are close to 400 professional profiles for nurses who are interested in being adjunct faculty in the database.
We avergage about 40 postings each year that provide opportunities for nurses who want to teach at one of the participating schools.
