Teaching & Education Component

Although it is expected that the fellows will have strong academic and training backgrounds in neuropsychology and neuroscience, the rapidly evolving and expanding nature of neuropsychology requires ongoing education and training in order to provide the highest quality of professional care to patients. CCF and the Section of Neuropsychology espouse the view that education is not an end-point, but a life-long process of professional growth.

Educational opportunities include a weekly postdoctoral conference to discuss neuropsychological issues. The fellows in the neuropsychology postdoctoral positions are expected to attend a core series of ongoing educational programs (e.g., Neuroscience Lecture Series), and will be encouraged to avail themselves of one or more other regular educational conferences within the institution (e.g., Psychiatry & Psychology Grand Rounds, Epilepsy Grand Rounds, Pediatric Grand Rounds, Neurology Grand Rounds, etc.). The fellows will also be encouraged to attend educational conferences and programs offered at the local (e.g., Cleveland Neuropsychological Society), state (e.g., Ohio Psychological Association or statewide neuropsychology consortium), national (e.g., APA Division 40 and National Academy of Neuropsychologists), and international (e.g., International Neuropsychological Society) levels.

Because teaching and education are closely interrelated at the professional level, it is expected that the fellow will be responsible for at least one of the teaching activities carried out by the Section of Neuropsychology (e.g., presentations in the Department of Psychiatry & Psychology Grand Rounds or Didactic Lecture Series, Epilepsy Grand Rounds, etc.) per year, and will assist the staff in the day-to-day supervision of the neuropsychology technicians.
