Downloading Citations from Ovid or PubMed into Reference Manager 10
Direct Export from Ovid
Prerequisites: Reference Manager must be already be installed and the library/file to which you are importing must already be created. It is not possible to create a new library/file "on the fly." The Direct Export format is compatible with Reference Manager version 7 or higher.
- Run your search in the selected Ovid database.
- Scroll down to browse through the first ten results. Click on Next Results to continue browsing.
- Select the result(s) to export by clicking in the box(es) to the left of the reference(s).
- Scroll down to the Results Manager menu at the bottom of the reference display.
- Under Results, choose Selected Results.
- Under Fields, choose Complete Reference.
- Under Result Format, choose Direct Export. Do NOT check Include Search History.
- Under Action, click on Save.
- Choose Direct Export results. Click 'Continue.'
Your Reference Manager software will automatically open and prompt you to select a library/file into which the references will be imported, and in some cases, an import filter. When the appropriate choices have been made, the software imports them with no further intervention. This only works if the library/file to which you are importing has already been created. When you close the library window, the revised library will be saved.
