How many books can I check out, and how long can I keep them?
Return to top of page
- You may borrow up to ten items from the circulating collection for 3 weeks.
- Items may be renewed up to four times if no one else has requested the items.
- Renewals must be placed BEFORE the items are due.
- Each renewal extends the loan for an additional 3 weeks (from the date of
renewal.)
- Overdue items cannot be renewed.
How do I renew a book from the CCF library or an OhioLINK library?
Return to top of page
- If an item is overdue or has been requested by someone
else, you CANNOT renew it. There are NO exceptions.
- You can renew materials online at
http://library.ccf.org/patroninfo.
- The library catalog will ask you to enter your name, employee ID number and your PIN number.
- If you do not have a PIN set or have forgotten what it is, follow
this link to learn how to handle either situation.
- Mark the box in the column headed RENEW for any item you wish to renew.
- Select the button labeled RENEW SELECTED ITEMS.
- If you want to renew all the items listed (remember that the due date extends to 3 weeks from the
current date, not from the current due date), then select the button labeled RENEW ALL to
place your renewal request.
- The new due date will display in italics for every item that was successfully renewed.
- If an item cannot be renewed a message will display indicating this, along with the reason it
cannot be renewed, instead of a new due date. Please take note of this information.
How do I renew a book requested through ILLiad?
Return to top of page
- If an item is overdue or has been requested by someone
else, you CANNOT renew it. There are NO exceptions.
- A book from an ILLiad library will have a square label attached to the front cover with
Cleveland Clinic Alumni Library Interlibrary Loan along the left side of the label.
- To renew these books, call the library at (216) 444-5697 and ask for a member of our interlibrary
loan staff. We will contact the lending library to see if the book may be renewed.
- Remember that renewals, and the length of the renewal period, are entirely at the discretion of
the library that owns the book; some libraries do not allow renewals.
Are there fines if a book is overdue?
Return to top of page
- Fines are $.25 per day for items the library owns and $.50 per day for items owned by other
libraries. The fine for OhioLINK books that are overdue more than 30 days is $50.00.
- If you return an overdue item within seven days of the due date, then you owe no fine. But
if you return an item on or after the eighth day past the due date, fines
will be charged for every day the item is overdue. Fines are not charged for days that the
library is closed.
- Items returned on the weekend will be considered to have been returned on Friday.
- Once your fines reach a total of $10.00 your borrowing privileges are blocked. This will also block your ILLiad account and your ability to request material through OhioLINK.
- OhioLINK books not returned within 30 days are billed at $125 per item.
For OhioLINK items returned after billing, you will owe $50 for fines and processing fees.
How do I get a book that is already checked out?
Return to top of page
- If the item you need is from the CCF library and is already checked out:
- To request the item, click on the blue button near the top of the screen labeled Request
then enter your name, employee number, and your PIN number.
If you don't have a PIN, click here for information on creating
one. If you have forgetten your PIN, call the library at (216) 444-5697.
- Placing your request for the item will prevent the person that currently has the book from renewing
it to extend the due date.
- You will be notified by email when the item is ready to be picked up at the CCF library.
- If the item belongs to another library in OhioLINK and is already checked out:
- Click the link that says, "Request this Item." Next, highlight
the Cleveland Clinic as the institution with which you are affiliated,
and click "Submit Information."
- When there are no copies available for borrowing, you will get a message to that effect.
- If it is possible to place a request for one of the items that is checked out, you will be taken to
the pages you normally follow to request an item from an OhioLINK library.
- You will then be notified by email when the item is ready to be picked up at the CCF library.
