Flexible Bronchoscopy

Flexible Bronchoscopy is a hands-on training program offered by the Department of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation under the preceptorship of Dr. Atul Mehta. The goal of the program is to increase awareness and procedural know-how related to advances in bronchoscopy techniques among selected practicing bronchoscopists.

The curriculum of the 2-week program will involve observation, discussions and actual performance of the procedure. Topics of discussions will include transbronchial biopsy, transbronchial needle aspiration, endobronchial electrosurgery, bracy therapy, stent-placements, etc. Each participant will have an opportunity to perform up to 2 procedures per day during the training period. The curriculum will also include touring of different bronchoscopy facilities at CCF each day including the OR, hospital bronchoscopy suite, radiation oncology, bedside bronchoscopy, MICU etc.

To be accepted into the program, participants should be licensed in the state of Ohio or be eligible to apply for a Special Activities Permit and should have practicing privileges in the parent institution. The participants must also provide a statement on goals and expectations related to the program along with the application.

The Advanced Flexible Bronchocopy Program will be offered over a 2-week period. The registration fee for the program is $5000. Please review the Participation Agreement (pdf) for other related details.
