Dr. Elaine Dannefer
|
Dr. Elaine Dannefer was appointed Director of Educational Research and Assessment in the Office of Curricular Affairs at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine in 2003. She earned her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Rochester in 1989 and her MSW from Indiana University in 1972. She has been in medical education for almost twenty years, first as a medical education researcher/program evaluator, then as Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs at the University of Rochester Medical School (1998-2003). At Rochester she established a new Curricular Affairs Office that provided faculty and curriculum development, conducted educational research, and implemented program evaluation for the Double Helix Curriculum, nationally known for its successful integrated curriculum and comprehensive assessment of professional competence. Her scholarship activities include co-authoring a number of articles related to innovative curricular and assessment activities. She has also played a key role in acquiring external funding to support curricular and assessment activities. Specific accomplishments include developing a Standardized Patient program for educational purposes and comprehensive assessments and a Dean’s Teaching Fellow program designed to support scholarship in medical education. In her current position at CCLCM, her primary focus is student assessment. She the PI of an external grant that is funding the development of a comprehensive ePortfolio assessment system used for both formative and summative purposes. |
