Writer's Statement

In this short story, I wrote about a new father who is losing his wife to birth complications. While thinking of his wife, he pays special attention to the fact that his wife had hoped to breastfeed the child. Although it is not revealed whether the wife ultimately lives or dies, the father prays that she will live so that he may support her decision to feed the child herself.
