Writer's Statement

My poem is written from the perspective of a person who has Alzheimer's disease. It discusses how it feels to lose memories of the past. Also, it expresses what it feels like to not even recognize one's own family and friends. My poem is simple and to the point. Alzheimer's isn't something to be taken lightly. It affects entire families and is sometimes even heartbreaking. Hopefully, a cure can be found and people affected by Alzheimer's won't have to suffer any longer.
