Artist's Statement

Just a Little Prick responds to Elissa Wolf's research which illustrates whether or not an epidural spinal injection will get rid of pain completely after the treatment, or if the pain will come back. To represent both possible outcomes of the injection, I created a painting of the lumbar cavity that was split in half by color. One side was to show the healthier outcome of an injection that got rid of chronic pain. The other side was stained a dried blood color to show that even with the injection, the pain is still there. The color used portrayed feeling.
