Artist's Statement

When I first heard of the project choices, I wanted to depict premature babies with respiratory problems. I thought it would be interesting for my project to have movable parts relating it to breathing. So I used tubing and connected it to the lungs so that they moved up and down. I wound the arm with tubing to signify that the mask is there keeping the baby alive. This relates to the research. My art shows every life is important no matter how small it may be.
