Artist's Statement

The objective of this piece is to show the emotional impact of blood transfusions on a patient. The heart represents the patient's emotions—stressed and torn apart when uninformed. The patches represent the types of blood, while the stitches are the blood of others. The hands of the surgeon show the informative doctor's role—he keeps the patient from worrying and puts them back together.
