My piece is a reflection on the research of Ken Bazydlo on the prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). I created a ceramic vessel to represent veins and blood clots. The swollen form of the artwork portrays the segment of the vein as it swells due to the blood clotting. This piece not only mirrors the physical swelling but it's also meant to represent the pain associated with DVT. I used the color orange, which is a warm color, to represent the "anger" existing within the vein. I used the color brown to symbolize the danger of DVT.
