Artist's Statement

My project, The Waiting Heart, was based on the research of Karen Kruzer. It is about how long people wait before they get treatment for their heart attack when it happens. The skeleton in the hourglass represents the person waiting while going through the pains of the heart attack. The sand at the bottom of the hourglass represents the time that has already passed while waiting on treatment.
