Writer's Statement

My main drive for this piece was to give a juxtaposition with nearly every detail of the main character's past and present, and also to hint towards the possible direction of his future. I wanted to show the different levels of pain, both emotional and physical. It's important to recognize that details and memories from our past can still influence us daily. Marissa Rose's research and presentation showed that pain takes place in the mind AND body, and I believe that one's personal experiences can determine the intensity of the pain, and also the person's pain tolerance.
