My poem is written from the point of view of a man in a hospital who has suffered serious injuries. Rather than be subjected to the problems of addiction again, the man chooses the alternative therapy of listening to music to relieve pain. Yet, the man becomes extremely tortured by the loudness and repetition of the music, eventually causing him to have a seizure and die. The point of this poem was to show that the music might be just as dangerous as the medication. While music usually sheds a positive light on most situations, I wanted to stress that it can also be negative.
