Writer's Statement

My submission is a short narrative of an elderly person who receives music therapy as an alternative to ‘traditional’ medication. It is written as if the person is recalling the story and telling it to a grandchild or whoever will listen. The music sends my character into a state of daydream that leads back to their days in the orchestra. Once the research period ends, it has had such a profound effect that they call their son and request him to bring in some music.
