Artist's Statement

Without enzymes like CA9 to inhibit tumor growth, the human kidney transforms from an indispensable helper to a lethal liability. With the noose representing the dangerous hold of cancer on an organ and the surrounding bubbles portraying the proliferative trait of cancerous cells, one can only hope that CA9 will provide a pinprick sufficient enough to "pop" the bubbles and help the patient overcome his or her disease.
