Artist's Statement

I chose the topic Outcome of Patients with Esophageal Perforation. I did an underlying painting of a torn esophagus to show the unseen destruction that an esophageal perforation causes to the body. Then I cut out a stencil of broken glass with a mouth on it and used it to paint over the torn esophagus to show that an esophageal perforation can be a life-shattering experience.
