Artist's Statement

My painting was inspired by the research of Matthew Mitcheltree. His research objective was to help recommend standardizing pediatric gastric emptying study in the future through his analysis of the current method. My goal was to show the innocence of the patients with these problems and the need to simplify the way the problem is studied in the future. The little girl in my painting is wearing a light pink shirt and blue pants, showing her innocence. The simple background with streaks of color shows the importance of simplifying and streamlining future methods for assessment of gastric emptying to help better diagnose these young patients.
