I did my project on the research of Matt Mitcheltree. His research was to find out why some babies were not digesting their food fast enough. Films were taken of the stomach during digestion using radiation. My project is a wire sculpture of a stomach that shows a white, spiraling wire going down through the piece, symbolizing the milk being absorbed into the body. The pink wire with the copper fluffs is the radiation that is passing through the abdomen along with the milk. The artwork shows how there should be a constant flow in and out of the stomach, but in these babies fluid was retained.
