My project was based off of the work of Mark Silver, who studied the effects of heat distribution during several different types of surgery. The Bair Hugger is a scrub that helps keep the body at normal temperature by blowing warm air through the cloth during surgery. My piece represents the naturalness and composure during this process, which is shown through the natural drift wood. The Bair Hugger has been known to help reduce pain after surgery, which is represented through the warm, calming colors. The lights show the heat distribution throughout the body during a specific procedure such as open heart surgery.
